It is with tremendous pride that we announce that our Apprentice Web Developer, Liam, has successfully completed his Apprenticeship program. He has now been awarded a full-time, permanent position as a PHP Web Developer! This comes after just 14 months with the company, everyone at Magma is delighted with his progress.
Liam joined the team three months after completing his GCSEs in September 2012 and has been learning at the same time as working. This included an initial two week ‘boot camp’ and then spending one day a week at college. This led to two City & Guilds qualifications, one in ICT Systems & Principles for IT Professionals and another in ICT Professional Competence. Furthermore, he received regular mentoring from his peers at Magma.
Speaking about the Apprenticeship opportunities for young people, Liam said that “an Apprenticeship is an option I would highly recommend to any young person wanting to kick start their career. I am avoiding accruing student debt and have had the chance to benefit from commercial exposure to clients and business projects.”
We are committed to giving young, talented people a chance in the workplace and are a proud member of the National Apprenticeship Scheme. We have an established history of giving young adults key roles within the team, with three interns being awarded full-time roles in the previous year and three graduates taken on as direct appointments.
We are still on the lookout for a Senior PHP Developer to join our team. If you are, or know of someone looking for a PHP Developer vacancy with three or more years experience, please check out our jobs page.
