Magma Digital takes a great amount of pride in supporting the technical communities in which we are involved. We give our support in a number of ways, often offering sponsorship to ensure events can be effectively run and affordably attended by PHP developers. Magma play a key role in arranging the local PHPNW Conference and staff members have shared their time and expertise by giving technical presentations at various conferences/events.
Jeremy has a prominent presence within the international conference scene and has previously spoken at conferences including PFCongres, PHP Day and Dutch PHP Conference. This year Jeremy was selected to be a speaker at the international PHPBenelux 2014 conference in Antwerp, Belgium and as ever, we are delighted to see our Managing Director recognised for being a thought leader in web and PHP development.
Jeremy delivered a three and a half hour tutorial on Friday 24th January entitled “Testing With Codeception”. The purpose was to introduce the relatively un-known Functional and Integration Testing practices. Jeremy explained these concepts and ran through a tool chain to enable easy adoption. The session went down very well and so far all the feedback has been very positive, with the workshop receiving a four/five star rating from all feedback comments up to this point. The slides for this workshop are below:
On the Saturday, Jeremy then presented for an hour on the topic of the software configuration tool ‘Ansible’. The presentation’s title was ‘Orchestrate your Infrastructure’ and featured a live demo, as well as tips on how to customise and extend Ansible with PHP. This session has had exclusively positive feedback up to this point too, so all in all Jeremy had a very successful conference weekend! You can view the presentation slides below and a video of Jeremy session is included below:
Magma Digital will continue to encourage the professional development of our team and the wider community through speaking at and attending conferences. We really enjoy being involved as it is a great way to broaden everyone’s horizons and learn new skills.
