After months of anticipation since we were announced as double finalists in May, the BIBAs 2014 awards night finally arrived on Friday! The event, facilitated by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, has the remit of celebrating the achievements of the county’s best businesses and accordingly it attracts the cream of the Lancashire business community.
Twelve members of the Magma Digital team joined numerous other Lancashire businesses at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, for a night of celebration with the county’s finest companies.
The evening started with the ‘Most Inspiring Business of the Year’ award and we were delighted to see our friends at The Foxton Centre win. Magma Digital has supported this charity this year and we have definitely been inspired by the valuable work they do in the Preston community.
As the night progressed, the team became giddy with excitement to hear the results of the ‘Employer of the Year’ category, the first award we were up for. After rounds of applause for each finalist, Dr. Lis Smith of Preston’s College announced the winner.
We were absolutely over the moon to hear that we had won this category. The team made their way onto the stage to collect the award and it wasn’t until we all sat back down that we realised we hadn’t even noticed what song the BIBAs team had chosen for us to walk down to. Lost in the moment!
Several awards later, it was time for our next category, ‘Professional Services Business of the Year’. To our pleasant surprise David Nowell of the Lancashire Evening Post announced that we had scooped this second award! A little more prepared this time, the team walked down to the stage again, to the sound of ‘Proud’ by Heather Small.
Magma Digital recognise that our staff are, by far, our greatest asset and we strive to provide working conditions that encourage innovation and creativity. We work extremely hard to be as professional as possible in our service to clients and to maintain a strong learning culture, with company wide initiatives such as an Apple laptop scheme, weekly staff master-classes and quality assurance/training exercises.
We have an established history of giving young, talented people a chance in the workplace, with six interns and an apprentice being given permanent positions in the last three years. Coupled with the huge levels of growth the company is achieving, we feel that this double award win is well deserved. This will inspire us to step up our endeavours and will hopefully be a springboard for further success.
Thank you to all the BIBAs judges, who put in countless hours reading through every application, sitting through numerous interviews and visiting many businesses on their finalists tour. We know it takes a lot of energy all year round from the judges, sponsors and everyone involved to make the BIBAs as special as it is.
Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to Babs Murphy and the BIBAs 2014 team who, yet again, put on an amazing and unforgettable night for everyone!
Were you there? What was your favourite part of the night?
