Over the past 24 hours, John Gillmore from BBC Radio Lancashire, has been attempting to beat the Guinness World Record for the most live interviews in that time duration. This endeavour was in aid of Children In Need and was aptly named ‘The Gillathon.’
Two of our directors, Jeremy and Priscilla, went along to the studio today for a double interview to help John with his world record attempt.
The challenge was to beat the previous record of 256 radio interviews in 24 hours set by an Italian station in 2012. We’re delighted that John was successful!
The Guinness adjudicator revealed that despite having to disqualify 3 interviews, John successfully completed 293. This is a truly remarkable feat that comfortably beats the previous record, with 1649 unique questions asked over the 24 hour period.
