Lancashire Business Awards 2012

When we received the news that we had been nominated for Lancashire Small Business of the Year and that Jeremy Coates our MD had been nominated for Social Media Guru of the Year. We were delighted and hoped that everyone we knew would take the opportunity to vote for us.

On 15th Nov, we attended the awards ceremony at Stanley House Hotel full of excitement as we anticipated the results of the voting and the judges decisions. It would be great to be recognised within the north west region for the quality work we produce and how effective we are in communicating with others. Stanley House is located in the middle of the countryside, a beautiful hotel with stunning rooms where we were welcomed with a drink of orange or Pimms and given ample opportunity to chat to other candidates & attendees.

This was the first awards ceremony I had attended so it was great to spend some time with the rest of the Magma team and enjoy an evening out together; all dressed to impress and eager to find out the results. Before the meal the winners of Networker of the Year Male – Teg Roberts from Astute Motoring & Networker of the Year Female – Janine Smith from Orvia were announced.

After the three course meal (the excellent bread and butter pudding was a clear favorite) the rest of the awards were announced by each

category sponsor. We were pleased to see, The Write Angle win both Most Creative Marketing Campaign & Best PR Creative Agency,

Then it was time to see how Jeremy had done in the Social Media Guru of the Year Category. While we had fingers crossed that all the hard work and voting had paid off it was now time to see what the judges thought of Magma and our MD. Luckily there was no “TV style long pause” and we were delighted to hear that Jeremy had won! Our Magma table clapped and cheered, as we are well aware of how influential Jeremy is in the world of social media, and to be recognised in this way is fantastic. After a few pictures the rest of the awards were announced. We clapped as Forbes Solicitors won Law Firm of the Year and Champion Accountants won Best Financial Services Company.

It is true that we were all a little disappointed that we were just pipped to the post by Garratts Insurance for Small Business of the Year, although knowing their long standing history in the area it was no surprise; it must have been a tough call for the judges.

We are excited to see what awards the next few months may bring so keep an eye out for any new awards and nominations on our website. Once again we would like to congratulate Jeremy on winning Social Media Guru of the Year.

Thank you to all of you who supported us!
